L is for Lavender

Hello, I'm here today with a card that I'm entering in the Alphabet Challenge Blog. Their latest challenge is 'L for Lavender.' It's a birthday card that I've made for a friend of mine.

The main focal point is decoupaged to give depth to the card and then mounted on Spellbinders Ovals. It's quite a simple card but I think the colours are just right for the challenge.
Take care, have a lovely weekend and I hope to be back with you soon x

For Lucie

Good morning, I'm here with a quick post today to share with you the card that I made for our Granddaughter's first birthday.  She had a tea part for her little friends on Saturday and enjoyed every minute.  One of the books that she enjoys is The Hungry Caterpillar and so I thought that I would make a caterpillar card for her and here it is:

 Have a happy day x

Kimono Card

Good morning all, I hope that you've all had a wonderful weekend so far and that the sun shines for you today.
I'm here today with a card that I've made for Ruby's Rainbow card challenge and their theme is 'Asian.'

I used a clear embossing pad to stamp the kimono stamp onto black card and then heat embossed it using a gold glitter embossing powder.  I then cut out the image and mounted it on to red card to give a good contrast. Unfortunately, I'm not sure who the stamp is by as I bought it as part of a job lot on eBay a long time ago. I've kept the card in red, black and gold to give an Asian feel.
Enjoy the rest of the day and I'll be back later in the week to share the card with you that I've made for our Granddaughter's 1st birthday :)

Feature a Creature

Hello my friends and thank you for visiting my blog today.  The card that I'm here to share with you is one that I've made for this month's Stamping Sensations challenge and their theme is 'Feature a Creature.'  I thought that I'd get ahead with my Christmas cards by using a Create-a-Scene Christmas set by Sheena Douglass and all the stamps on this card are from the same set.

The colours that I've used are Impress Olive Green, Distress Tea Dye and Memento Rich Cocoa.  I started by stamping the deer with the Memento ink and then used a water colour brush to bring in the colour.  I then went a little crazy stamping lots of different sized trees to frame the deer. I used a branch stamp at the top of the card and also used the same stamp to create a frame on the background card.   I used Tea Dye around the edge of the picture and the background card to give the card more of a vintage feel. I added a bit of sparkle to the trees to give the effect of shimmering snow.   I'm happy with the end result and I hope that you like it too.  :)

I'm also entering the card into the following card challenges:

The Happy Wanderer

Good morning.   I'm here today with a card that I've made for this week's Less Is More Challenge.  It's a one layer card with a 'Masculine' theme.
I've used two stamps and a sentiment from the Hiking set which I've had for many years by the Stampman. I stamped the images and sentiment in Versafine Black Onyx and then coloured the boots and rucksack with Dovecraft Chalks and some soft artist pastels.  I stamped the grass at the base of the card using an Inkylicious stamp and Impress Olive Green Ink.  I then used a blending tool around the edge to give more depth and to draw the eye in.  I used Distress Stormy Sky ink to gently colour around the sentiment to give a sky effect, although this doesn't show too well in the photograph.  I've left lots of white space in the center of the card to give a CAS look.

I'm also entering this card into the latest 'The Male Room' challenge.  Their theme is to make a male card based on a song title.  The song that I've based my card on is:

'The Happy Wanderer' ....... My knapsack on my back.

I think this song title sums up my card, given that it has walking boots, a rucksack and a fitting sentiment on it.  I remember singing this song at school many, many moons ago! :)

I'm Back!

Hi there to all my friends and fellow bloggers, I'm back after a wonderful week away in the Lake District. The weather was mostly kind to us, other than a couple of days where we had a few showers.  It was my Husband's birthday while we were away so we celebrated by having a day cruising on Lake Windermere.  Here's the card that I made for him:

I saw a card posted recently by:   http://www.sueplayingwithpaper.blogspot.co.uk   which I really liked and so I decided to do something very similar as I'd recently bought the 'Create A Scene - Boating' by Inkylicious and hadn't had a chance to use it.  As I loved the colours that Sue had used, I also kept them the same.  It seemed a very fitting card given that we would be in the Lakes on Hubby's birthday.
Although I haven't made any new posts myself, I have really enjoyed visiting your blogs to see your wonderful creations and to leave the odd comment or two.
I have a card to make this week for our Granddaughter's first birthday so I hope to share that with you after the event in a couple of weeks. It's also our son-in law's 30th next week so I need to get my act together.  I don't know about you but I always find that making cards for my nearest and dearest are the hardest ones to make as I always want them to be perfect.
Enjoy the rest of your evening and I hope to be back with you very soon x
