Rudolph Day July 16

Hello there to all my crafty friends and to my new follower.....Janina, thank you for joining me.

Well, it's that time once again, yes, it's Rudolph day over at Scrappy Mo's.  I'm well ahead this year with my Christmas cards, so no panicking for me this November:)  Here's this month's card:

I started by stamping the Inkylicious Winter Lodge onto stamping card using Versafine Black Onyx and then coloured it using a variety of inks and pencils.  Once I was happy with the finished image, I then used the outer part of the Large Bauble Stencil by Inkylicious to create the bauble shape around it.  I masked the Lodge and then coloured in the sky around it using Distress Blue print sketch and Memento Rosebud. I used a little Adirondack Denim just around the very edge to emphasize the bauble shape.  At this point, I then masked off the bauble using the inner part of the stencil to dust around the outside using the Rosebud ink.   I used Fluffy Puffy Stuff to add snow to the roof top and to the Christmas trees. I then mounted the card onto layers of black and white card to frame it.  I wanted quite a bold sentiment as I have quite a large space to fill so I used 'Winter Wonderland' by Inkylicious and heat embossed it in silver.  Although my card was finished at this point, it was still missing something, so I added the silver corner die cuts,  These were made using a Memory Box corner die.  The corner dies filled in the missing space beautifully and I was then happy with the end result. I added a pink ribbon bow to add the finishing touch.

Take care of yourselves and I hope to be back with you soon x

Birds of a Feather

Hello there,

I hope that you are all well and happy and that life is treating you kind.  Hasn't the weather been amazing, although I would love a good downpour of rain to clear the air as it's a little too hot and humid for my liking.

Welcome to my new followers......Pam Robinson and Wizzo.  Unfortunately, I can't find blogs for either of you, so please let me know if you have one so that I can update this post and also follow you in return.  Pam, I've linked to your Pinterest page, hope that's OK. Thank you both for joining me.

I'm here today to share a card that I've made for the 'Birds of a feather' challenge over at 'That's Crafty Challenge Blog.'

The inks that I've used are:

  • Adirondack - Raspberry, Butterscotch, Denim
  • Distress - Twisted Citron, Blueprint Scetch
  • Versafine - Black |Onyx
  • Memento - Dandelion
The background was created using Ink Dusters

All stamps used are by Inkylicious

A Couple of Family Birthdays

Hello there friends and followers and welcome to my two new followers......Hazelw and Karen. Thank you both for joining me. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find blogs for either of you. Please let me know if you have one and I'll be more than happy to update this post with a link.

I'm here today to share with you a couple of cards that I've made.  The first one was made for my wonderful Husband who turned 60 this week. He doesn't like a lot of fuss so we celebrated the day quietly in the Lake District. Ordinarily, I would surprise him with a card but when I'd finished this one, he loved it so much that he asked if he could have it for his birthday as it reminds him of the Yorkshire Dales, so here it is:

All stamps used on this card are by Inkylicious and I've created the background using their Ink Dusters and stencils.

The second card is one that I've made for my Son-in-law's birthday:

He prefers cards that are clean and simple so I haven't done too much with this one  The image was stamped in black onto Kraft card and I've then gently gone over it using a sponge dauber just to add a little colour.  I finished the card by adding gold glitter over the Leopard, which unfortunately, doesn't show at all on the photograph but it does catch the light beautifully. This Leopard Prowl stamp is a new one from Inkylicious and I love it.  I can't wait to have a play around with my inks with this one as it's such a fabulous stamp and I have lots of ideas that I'd like to try.

Whatever you're doing this weekend, I hope the sun shines for you and that you can be with the people you love.  Sandra x

Last of the Christmas samples for now

Hello there,

I'd just like to start by saying 'Thank you' to all the wonderful people who have been kind enough to take the time to leave such positive and generous comments recently. I really do appreciate each and every one of them.  I'm a little behind with my commenting due to such a busy week but I promise to catch up with you all over the next few days.

I've had so many people asking if I have any videos of my card making. I don't at the moment but this is something that I'll look in to. I'm definitely planning to do more photo tutorials on my blog, so at least you will be able to see how the cards progress through each stage. I often have a camera nearby when I'm card making but then I get so absorbed in what I'm doing that I've often completed my card before I remember that I should have been taking photographs!

I've had such a great response to the Christmas card samples that I made for Inkylicious and so I'm posting a few more today but as we're still only in July, I won't post any more Christmas cards after today for the time being. Hope you like them:

FSC Under the Sea

Hello there my wonderful, crafty friends.

I hope that you're all well and happy and that life is treating you kind.

I'd like to say 'Hello and welcome' to my new follower .......... Sharon. Thank you for joining me Sharon and I hope you'll pop by often.

It's time for another challenge at Fashionable Stamping Challenges and this month's theme is 'Under the Sea.'  My heart sank a little when I saw this theme as I didn't think that I had any stamps that were suitable.  Anyway, I had a rummage through my stamp drawers and found three which I thought might just do, and here's my finished card:

I started by masking off a circle as I knew this was where I wanted to put my Sea Horses.  I decided to make some waves so I used a mountain stencil and coloured them in blue and green using Ink Dusters and sponges.  I was really pleased with this effect and I think that it makes a fabulous background. I removed the mask and then stamped in the Sea Horses. Unfortunately, this bit went horribly wrong when I coloured them and so I stamped them again on a separate piece of card and coloured them using a make up sponge. I then cut them out and mounted them over the originals.  Phew...... I was seriously relieved that it didn't need to go in the bin at this point!  Next, I stamped my Water Drops by Inkylicious randomly around the image.  I then used bleach to remove the colour. I like doing this as I think it makes the water droplets pop against the background. The fish is also by Inkylicious.

I finished my card by mounting my image onto some Kraft card and I stamped around the edge with a Rope stamp give the card more of a nautical feel.

The Sea Horse and the Rope stamps were both free with a Creative Stamper magazine which I bought a while ago.

To be honest, I wasn't really looking forward to this challenge but I've actually really enjoyed it in the end and I love the finished card.  I'm always short on cards for the men and this one just fits the bill.

We would love you to join us in this challenge but please remember that we are a stamping challenge, so please don't use digital images, just good old fashioned stamping.
We are so lucky to be sponsored every month by Leo over at Flonz Craft.  Their stamps are really well made and are great to work with and one lucky random winner will receive a $20 voucher to be used online.  There will also be a Top 3 spotlight, chosen by the Design Team.

Thank you for taking the time to visit today, I really appreciate it :) x

Inkylicious Christmas on Hochanda

Hello there my crafty friends,

Inkylicious have had two fabulous shows with amazing demos by Deby and Emma on Hochanda today at 10am and 1pm. There should have been a third show at 6pm but it's been cancelled as everything's sold out.    If you're weren't able to watch the shows, then you can always pop over to the Hochanda channel and watch them on catch up for a week or so after the shows.

Here are just a few of the samples that I made:

Hope you like them and I'll share a few more next time x

Since posting this, I've been inundated with requests for the template that I used for the last card.  I looked at so many at the time that it's taken me ages to find the one I used again but here is the link:
