A Dedication To My Wonderful Dad

Hello there,

As it's 'Father's Day' today here in the UK, I really felt that I wanted to make a card that I could dedicate to the memory of my wonderful Dad who sadly passed away many years ago.

My Dad used to have a fabulous garden and he used to grow all of our flowers and vegetables.  I remember them being in long, neat rows, and he used to plant a few plants or seeds each week, so that we had a constant supply of food throughout the summer and autumn months.  I guess as a child that I took this for granted, especially when many of my friends were eating the then new and very fashionable ready meals that had just started to appear on the market.....what a fool I was, and what I wouldn't give to have my Dad here again today to thank him for all he did for us.

I feel absolutely blessed to have had such an amazing Dad and for all the happy memories that I have of our time together.  What's that saying...... Don't cry because they've gone, smile because they were here. :) xxx

Here's the card that I've made, and that I dedicate to him:

On this card, I've used some gardening stamps by 'The Stamp Man' that I've had for years and never
used until now.  Unfortunately, these stamps are no longer available. The trees are by Inkylicious and I’ve used some Floersoft on the bare tree.

I hope that your day will be a special one where beautiful memories can be made x

I'll be back with you tomorrow with some mid-month inspiration over at Stamping Sensations.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Penny Black and More - In The Garden
Try It On Tuesday - For The Boys

I can completely identify with what you say about your Dad and his garden veggies Sandra, my Dad farmed and it always amazed me as a child that despite sewing huge fields his garden was still like a neat patchwork of squares and rows. And the quote is so true and I'm welling up reading it, it's not many years but seems like an eternity.

It's a beautiful card and so perfect for any man that likes his garden.

What a beautiful tribute, Sandra... your Dad will be chuffed to bits that you still think of him and remember him with such fondness. You've spread the ripples of his love a little further by sharing about him and your love for him.

I lost my Dad earlier this year and although I can't say he grew plants or vegetables, he was a blessing to so many people through his business. I plan to make him a card today, even though he isn't here... I believe he'll know and will still be aware of the love I have for him.

Special heartfelt hugs for you Sandra xx You have created a beautiful card in memory of your beloved Dad. It looks a lot like the allotment my Dad used to have. We were overloaded every year with strawberries, courgettes etc. Xx

I understand so well what you said about thanks for all your Dad did for you... My beloved Dad passed away last year and I have happy memories, but also a lot of regrets... I wish have said many thanks to him for a lot of things that I haven't appreciated enough when I was more young... :(
Your card is a fab tribute to your Dad, and I'm sure that he is blessing you from the Heaven
Big hugs

Hi Sandra what a marvellous tribute to your beloved Dad, and such a fitting card for a gardener. The card is amazing, the composition of images and your colours are fabulous. As children we never appreciate what out parents do, we take for granted and sometimes only realise when it's too late. I remember being so miffed that we were having cold meat, which would probably be chopped meat....changed days, I enjoy cold meat and mashed potatoes. Never gave it a thought that maybe mum was trying to spin out the food money.
Love your card and I'm sure your Dad would have too, Kate x

A really beautiful card with a lovely sentiment. Brilliant scene, some super images too.
Love the way you have spoken about your Dad, like the old saying or song says "You don't know what you have got till it's gone"
Have a good week.

What a wonderful way of remembering your Dad with this beautiful garden scene Sandra. My Dad also loved growing fruit and vegetables and during the Summer months we too had lots of homegrown goodies. We didn't appreciate how great this was at the time either. It was ever thus as the saying goes. x

Well this is tremendous Sandra! Yes, it's tinged with a touch of sadness but it also makes me very happy. As you know, I didn't really know my father but my Pap was all I had and he so loved his garden and particularly his vegetable garden. Your quote is very true Sandra and you've absolutely nailed the theme this month. I send you love as always and thank you for sharing this with us and joining in this month at Penny Black and More Challenges - you clever bean!! xxx

Lovely card Sandra and a lovely tribute to your Dad, I remember my Dad growing veggies and how I used to eat the peas straight from the pods when I was supposed to be picking them for my Mum to cook!
