I've just realized that this is my !00th blog post.........Wow!
I would like to start today by giving a very warm welcome to my latest follower......Viv of Viv's Visuals, thank you for joining me again Viv :)
It's just a year since I started blogging and I've met so many kind, generous and amazingly talented people in Blogland, and I would like to say a big 'Thank You' for your support during that time, it has really meant a lot to me. Other than spending time with my family and my two gorgeous Grandchildren, I'm never happier than when I'm covered in ink and I can't find an inch of space on my craft desk!
This weekend has been wonderful. My Hubby and I have done lots of early morning walking, which we both love and I've had time spare in the afternoons to do some crafting. I got really messy yesterday when I decided to make some embossing paste. I'd seen lots of recipes for it on Pinterest and so I decided to give it a go and here are the results:
I'm really quite pleased with this a first attempt ever to use embossing paste and it only cost pennies to make. For anyone who would like to try this, the recipe is:
- 1 Quarter of a cup of baby powder or corn flour
- 1 TBS of white school glue
- 1 TBS of white acrylic paint
- Enough water to achieve the consistency of toothpaste
Obviously, the next step of my journey was to get out my Distress inks and get messy and here's the result of that:
I used various stencils and applied the ink using Ink Dusters and then sponged around the edge with a darker colour to draw the eye into the center of the tag. I was really pleased when the embossing still showed through and kept the wonderful flourishes. Inks used were:
- Distress - Worn Lipstick
- Distress - Fossilized Amber
- Distress - Carved Pumpkin
- Distress - Ground Espresso
The stencil used with the embossing paste is Tim Holtz Flourish
The sentiment is by Inkylicious
The gorgeous lady image is a Gibson Girl stamp by Flonz Craft which I stamped with the Ground Espresso ink. I then put her on on a brown Marianne die cut Butterfly which I used gold Gilding Wax on. The tag was finished by adding some flowers to the sentiment and using a white ribbon which I coloured with the same inks as I used to colour the tag.
Sorry this is quite a long post but I hope you've enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed my time making my crafty bits.
Thank you for visiting today and I hope to be with you again soon :) x
