Poppies In Summer

Hello there on this lovely sunny Sunday morning.

I can't believe how hot it's been and for how long here in the UK, we're just not used to it are we.  I remember the summer of 76 with it's plague of Ladybirds, so I'm just wondering if we will get something similar with this heat wave, hopefully not.

Now I'm not really a football fan, sorry Brenda and Viv if you're reading this but I did watch the England match last night and they were fabulous, once the game actually got started.  I'm feeling more nervous about the next game though as Croatia seem to have quite a lively team but I will be watching from the edge of my seat, as I'm sure most of the country will be too!

Onto the matter in hand now and I'd like to share a card with you that I made as a sample for one of the recent Inkylicious shows on Hochanda:

All the stamps that I've used are by Inkylicious and the sentiment is one of my favourites as it's so true.  I think it's a reminder to us all that we should all stop for a while and treasure the little moments in our lives as they tend to be the ones that we look back on with the greatest affection.

I stamped the image using Desert Sand and then coloured it using Distress inks to give the image more of a water colour look.  The two butterflies were printed and then fussy cut out to complete the scene.  I coloured and blended the background using Spectrum Aqua pens and a touch of glycerin.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Allsorts - In My Garden
Penny Black and More - Things With Wings
That's Crafty - Close To Nature
Country View Challenges - In The Summer Garden

Your forgiven Sandra, we can't all be as fanatical and myself and Viv. But it was a cracking game yesterday and persoanlly I am happier with Croatia as an opponent than Russia, merely because if it had been the latter we could have been playing not only the team but a whole stadium of them.

On to your card, what can I say other than Poppies, Butterflies and some inkiness so it ticks all my boxes and love the graduation of the soft colours coming out from the centre. It just so happens I received that stamp as a gift from another Inkylicious fan, not prizes from guessing which one and it really is a beauty.

So pleased you joined in our garden theme at Allsorts this week, my thanks.

We'll have you converted yet Sandra! After me - altogether now - THREE LIONS ON A SHIRT.....
Gorgeous card - have this stamp but my attempts are nothing like this. Your colouring and blending are only something that I can hope to aspire to - but unlikely!!! (Better stick to footie supporting I think.....)

As always Sandra a really gorgeous card, love the peach tones and the super image.

I am banned from watching the footie as my Hubby say every time I do England lose, he says I am a jinx.

Hi Sandra,
oh I love this card and your work as always is so brilliantly created, and such a super sentiment too.
Love the poppies and your colouring, and also the beautiful inking technique it makes for such a beautiful card.
I have just finished a project for my DT work with the glyccerin, and it's the first time using that type of blending, and was so pleased with the outcome.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

Such a lovely background to show off these lovely peach blossoms and gorgeous butterfly. This is just such a fantastic watercolor, and since I struggle with w/c, I am in awe of how smoothly you've done this one, yet still keeping those images well defined. Beautiful. TFS
